Back by popular demand! We are pleased to announce Art Lottery to be held on the historic Roycroft Campus, October 15th, 2020.
This exciting event offers guests a fun night out, an enriching cultural experience and a beautiful piece of artwork to take home. A $250 ticket will provide admittance for two guests, hors d’ oeuvres, cocktails, one piece of art valued at $250 or higher, and a print from featured artist, Bob Maurer. A lottery system is used to draw numbers at random which adds suspense and intrigue to the evening.
Featured Artist - Bob Maurer
Many of Bob Maurer's landscape paintings are made in the arts and crafts tradition that was heavily influenced by the painters of the late 1800s and early 1900s, known as the California tonalists. The medium of watercolors provides a versatility and a spontaneity that allow for a wide range of atmospheric effects.
Some favorite atmospheres include fog, sunrises and sunsets. Using muted tonal qualities, earthy colors and delicately balanced compositions Maurer tries to convey a sense of peace and tranquility, with a slight air of mystery. Old vehicles, boats and architecture also are favorite subjects for his watercolors, monotypes and drawings.
Several of Maurer's paintings have received awards from Ohio Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Ohio Plein Air Society, Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, Akron Society of Artists and many other juried competitions. Since the 1980s Maurer's watercolors have been shown in galleries in Laguna Beach, California; Morro Bay, California; Camden, Maine; Akron, Ohio; Canton, Ohio; East Aurora, New York; and Oriental, North Carolina.
