Based on the book Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump, the story tells of the adventures of a juvenile delinquent and his foster father, played by Sam Neill, who become the subjects of a manhunt after being stranded in the New Zealand wilderness. The charmingly offbeat film reveals a poignant, funny and deeply affecting message as the two lead actors do a wonderful job of moving between the dramatic, comedic and emotional points of the script.

The movie has gone on to become the highest grossing New Zealand film ever and has received global acclaim. It currently has a 97% rating by Rotten Tomatoes, and Empire magazine named it the number one film of 2016.
